Cheese burger face-stuff.

Those of you that know me well understand how much i like to eat food, so i thought this would be a funny regular segment for the blog. Seeing how much food i can get in my mouth that is. This is me destroying a cheese burger. stay tuned

NBS staff dinner

On sunday night the NBS team had a staff dinner and drinks at Restaurant So-An. So-An is a small nabe restaurant that serves large cookers with your own pot to cook your own meat and vegetable nabe dish (a photo below). Whats super awesome about this restaurant is for 3500 yen you can opt to have All you can eat AND drink!!! Well for those of you who are familiar with ski bums and the attitude toward drinking in ski towns will very much understand how EXTREMELY pear shaped this evening got. Letting 20 people drink anything they want for 90mins should nearly be outlawed. Im not gonna lie to you people, it got severly out of hand, and it was AWESOME!!!!

It was a super fun night and good for team morale and bonding, yet terrible for work ethic and enthusiasm the next day. YEH JAPAN!!!!

Lachys 'Fantastic friend of the week!'

I am adding a new regular segment to the blog.....a weekly look at some of my fantastic friends. Each week i will add somebody new with a pic and a small bio. these friends are not necessarily going to be from japan, but all my friends in all walks of life. enjoy.



This is Niki - aka noodles, nickers, nikschtang, noods, stowey, stowburgerface. Niki works at falls creek with me and helps me run the Fallscreek sports Village bowl store by overseeing all ticket and retail operations. Her boyfriend is a hollywood megastar snowboarder named 'JASON CURRIE'. Niki is currently being a super trashy beach bum in torquay with jase for the summer. Congrats Niki on being the first Fantastic friend of the week!!

It has arrived....

Yesterday, my fabled Fish arrived here in the powder capital of the world.....ready to be ridden at mind bending speeds through the fields of endless white dreams that Niseko is famous for...

I am of course talking about my new snowboard....the Burton Fish.

Now i have ridden a fair few boards in my 6 years of living the snow dream, and ridden a lot of powder on a lot of boards..........but this ladies and gentleman is an entirely different story. This board must have been crafted by wild scientists from some far away planet where men ride pink feather covered unicorns to work because this thing is not from this planet!!! It is so so soooooooooo damn fast its a joke, and the way it effortlessly flies and slices through the powder is stuff i have never experienced before on a snowboard. its bullshit. i only had a few cheeky laps on it today through some knee deep sections of the hill but even so, its unbelievable.

Have i made a good purchase? Am i content with this completely 'useless for Australia' snowboard?

To answer that i must first ask you a question.

Rustusu sunshine in the powpow wow wow

Went back to Rusutsu with the boys on thursday. needless to say it was insanely epic, off the charts mega awesome to MAX!!! Getting a sunshine powder day in japan at this time of year is unheard of....a one in a million day.

Also on the way home we stopped at 7/11 to get hell post-shred munchies and i got some sort of japan pimped out hotdog and it came with this Mustard/ketchup squeeze combo!! DOES ANYONE ELSE THINK THIS IS THE BEST INVENTION IN THE HISTORY OF EVERYTHING?!?!?! ITS KETCHUP AND MUSTARD TOGETHER!! AND IT COMES OUT MIXED!!!

Daily snow clearing

For those of you that dont know, Niseko (the resort im in) is the 2nd snowiest ski resort on gods green earth. And never has that been more true than this week. It has probably snowed close to 2 metres in the last 7 days.......in comparison, that is equal to the entire snowfall of Falls creek in the last 2 seasons!!! But with every plus there is a minus, and our minus is constant snow clearing. Attached are some photos of an average morning of snow clearing activities.....its a joke people!! Every god damn day we have ANOTHER 40cm+ of snow to clear from the front of the shop, its crazy. but of course there is always some idiot who wants to stuff around. Im currently the NBS shovel riding champion after this effort down the Matterhorn (the big snowpile outside the shop)

New maccas burger!!

This is pretty off topic and random, but i was just watching videos on youtube of people inventing burgers at maccas and eating them. Well i invented a burger at maccas aswell. First you ask for a Bigmac with the 2 beef patties replaced by McChicken patties, then shuv a fat cheesburger in side it!!

Me and the boys played darts again last night, and we won. it was awesome. Me, koji, billy, and brett smoked this shitty team of pommy guys 6-1. Brett and koji came up with a strategic playing order and it seemed to work pretty good. In case you dont know the rules of darts or how to play the games, visit www.indepthinfo.com/darts/. The game consists of 4 single matches, 2 double matches, and an all in family game. the singles matches are 301, and then doubles and family is Tactics. the best of 7 wins the match. But the best part of darts is the family game....because if you win the family game the losing team has to buy the winning team a PARALYSER!! A paralysler is a champagne bucket-sized cocktail of your choice with 4 straws, one for each member of the team. See...darts is awesome!!

also i ordered a new powder board from the states and its due to arrive at somestage this week so ill keep you posted, i attached a photo of it. Tomorrow im going back to rusutsu with the boys because it has been forecast to snow UPWARDS OF 2FT TONIGHT!!! So think of me tomorrow up to my neck in powder....

Chest deep PaPowPow in Rusutsu

Yesterday me and team 'SkiJapan' (the company i work for) went to Rusutsu for another action packed day of powder mayhem!! T-roy was taking his drivers over there to train them on how to conduct an all mountain tour so they can take guests on day tours. So a few of us scammed a seat in the van and off we went!! It was pretty awesome but when we got to the carpark we realised it was a Japanese public holiday and there was roughly 150 trillion people there. But all was not lost beacause in true Japanese style, not one of those Japanese skied the trees......they rode the groomers all day!!! So we smashed hell lines through the trees all day......chest deep and loving it. i didn't take many photos of us actually riding because......well who really wants to stop and take photos? not me.

Art and craft time at work.

So at work today i decided that art and crafts was a great way to pass the time and keep everyone's imaginations running at full speed. So after much thought at what to do, we stumbled across t-roy's board in the store room......needless to say, we had found our blank canvas!! So the next half an hour were extremely productive and i think you'll be impressed with the result.

cool ice bar on new years and my shop

hey people. here is a video of this extremely intricate and cool ice bar the good people at bloblo built (bloblo is a bar here in niseko, its run by some cool people from falls creek, rachel and joel). me and johnny (amanda) and friends went there for new years and they have this amazing bar made out of ice outside. So here is a video of me walking through it, i apologise for the shitty video quality of my camera.


And here is a photo of my rental shop. Its pretty chilled and is stocked entirely with HEAD ski and snowboard equipment. i havent worked with this much HEAD stuff before so its good to be able to brush up on product knowledge on another major ski brand. God i sound like boydy...hahahaha

So i learnt how to use this snow clearer today. These japanese dudes who operate it for our company gave me and the boys a crash course in how to use it, then bailed!! So we fired her up and cleared the area in front of the shop, which is about the size of a tennis court. Another awesome day at work.

so my darts team (the ninjas) totally kicked ass and won our darts game last night. brett, koji, kenta, and myself killed it against a team who we thought would beat us. I'd like to give a special mention to myself for throwing 3 bullseyes in one hand to win the match. YEH NINJAS!!!

So here is the first post.

For those of you that dont know, im currently living in northern japan at a ski resort call Niseko. Im working in a rental ski shop called NBS (niseko base snowsports) for one of my mates joely. Its pretty sweet.
